Africa Environmental Watch & Services, Inc. (AEW), is an offspring of the Liberia Environmental Watch (LEW), Inc., which was formed in 2004 as a response to the urgent call concerning environmental issues in Liberia as a result of the 14 years civil war. LEW transitioned to what is now known as the Africa Environmental Watch (AEW) in 2008 based on a collective strategic decision by it's board of directors in response to many calls and petitions for an umbrella organization to expand such environmental activities on a Pan-African scope.
